Where Your Words Go

I get so tired of hearing people complain about our area.  It amazes me how quickly people can tear down hope and promise around them. There’s always a critic ready to spew negativity.  Anyway, I wrote a poem that contrasts the critic and the cultivator.

The critic curses the land,

Damning it to an eternal doom.

Never, hopeless and unlikely

Drip from his tongue

Poisoning the streets with toxic waste.

Grim eyes see only melancholy tones

Famine, drugs and death lie at his feet.

The cultivator breaks open the earth,

Feeding it with life giving seed.

Certainty, hope and promise

Are planted with his hands

Tenderness sifts the grounds.

Bright eyes see a plethora of harvest

Abundance, fruitfulness and life expand around him.

“Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.” Proverbs 18:21  Words can tear down or they can build up.  Is your vocabulary filled with life or death? How many dreams have you crushed or ignited? Let’s pour waters of hope onto a land that looks parched.  Let’s drown out the negativity by showering blessings onto the land.  Breathe life, nurture the downtrodden until they thrive.  We have to bless our land, it’s been cursed long enough.

Awaken the Gray

Fuzzy logic,

Blurred truth,

Unclear lines,

Indistinct certainties,

Overcast thinking,

Crowded acceptances,

Confused, there is no black or white.

Our world is gray.

Blocking vision

No right or wrong

Anything goes

While empty souls roam around

Knowing only the gray.

Thick gray fog covering…

Hovering…

Puddling….

My heart is heavy

Watching color fade away

I slowly dip my brush in paint.

Tears of blue drip onto the canvas

Drip….

Drip…..

Drip….

Streaming down, making pools of water.

The water swirls….

Searching….

Seeking….

Looking past gray skies.

Seeing yellow…

Blinding…

Bright….

Warmth….

Energizing, renewing, igniting inner beings that were asleep.

Transforming into orange…

Realizing, conception, created for

Such a time….

Tick…Tock…Tick…tock…

Moving hands, awaking the gray…Alarms sound!!

Flowers bloom, plants open up and feed off the sustenance that makes life thrive.

Bursting forth….

Opening up…

Red explodes, covering its surroundings.

Can’t help but feel the heartbeat beating…

Thump….thump…thump…

See the passion, His loving eyes reach out erasing the nothingness around.

Covering….

Suturing….

Removing the gauze

BOOM ….

BOOM….

BOOM….

Victory marches in with vibrant robes

Authority…

Kingship….

Worthy….

The Crown awaits.

Ode to My Creator

viewfromspruceknobOh how beautiful our Earth is.

Oceans, rivers, springs and streams dress it with blue ripples.

The waters calm my soul when I gaze over those endless bodies.

God splashed the shades of blue onto His canvas of Earth to delight mankind with the soft touches of cool refreshment.

The rains of the Earth remind me that God’s love washes over me continuously.

When storms dance on the waters and cause my heart to fear, He whispers in the wind and I remember that He’s with me and that the storms won’t last forever.

God constructed the mountains, hills, and crags with great views of boundless land filled with vegetation and animals.

I am at awe when I stand at the top and feel the breeze move through my soul.

The climb is never simple, you wonder if you will ever reach the summit.

I peek over the edge and look at the walk that God encouraged me to continue.

The reward is great with perseverance.

Some days and nights, I lay on the cool Earth in great wonder of my God, the creator.

God fills the skies with various brushes of clouds in the day.

Sometimes the clouds are thick and heavy with little light passing through.

Other times the clouds are soft splotches with bright light bouncing onto the earth.

While at night, He sprinkles the sky with stars to dance in the moonlight.

Oh how majestic our Creator is.

December Day

You send shivers up my spine,

While blanketing the ground

with soft cotton kisses.

Some love you,

while others loathe

seeing you dance silently from the sky.

Yet, your initial covering

is so pure,

a frozen backdrop.

Time stands still for a moment.

Is it because of the chill in the air

or the beauty you leave behind?

Destination Awry

Her purpose became disposed by the empty container of a pill bottle.
She didn’t plan to withdraw into this life of addiction.
Her mind was too muddled to even recognize who she had become.
A pale face molded with the signs of abuse that outsiders diagnose.
A face that society thrusts aside, mistrusts, and labels as a lost cause.
Her hunger overcomes anyone who cares or anything that matters.
This appetite gnaws at her heart and suffocates the things she once loved.
How did she allow this to overtake her?
She was so beautiful, but felt so ugly.
She robbed herself with misplaced priorities of living it up,
This left her tossed by the wayside.
Slammed iron bars and a cold cell is her home now.
Rapid breaths of air escape her lungs with tears seeping down her cheeks.
God awaits her call to Him with His ear on her chest.

An Empty Vessel

Her heart was hollow and she stood unyielding to anyone that tried to reach out to her.

She was used to the insults flung at her by those who were supposed to love her.

She didn’t trust what people called love.

She heard their artificial claims and witnessed their cold shoulders.

Yet, she crossed my path.

I want to show her the love that My Father showed me.

So, I take the time to

Chisel….tap….stand back

Wait.

Pray.

Smile at her with an honest grin

And with eyes that hope,

With eyes that felt like she does….once upon a time.

Until, God shook me and showered me with love that wasn’t deserved,

A pure love, a real love.

I’m waiting for that cloudburst to drizzle upon her face

And fill that heart to capacity.

A Beautiful Mess

mess

Tear stained face with a bruised heart,
Sitting between walls of solitude
Falsely reasoning within herself
That no one understands.
She’s a complete mess
Who’s waiting to be mopped off the floor of her despair.

She listens to inner lies that have lingered from harsh words
That was spoken in quick temper or without thought.
The accusations, disappointments, the inability to achieve acceptance
Have created this complete mess
That is tangled in her mind.

Interwoven and pulsating from her veins
A need to be seen, heard, and most importantly loved.
He sees her and knows her.
He hears her questions and doubts.
Her heart is naked before Him, but she thinks He doesn’t see.
He knows that she isn’t a complete mess.
He knows how to mop her tears and untangle her mind.
He sees that she is a beautiful mess waiting to be cleaned up.
He’s awaiting the word from her to help.
He can’t help without her asking.
He watches and waits with a heart ready to gush out love.
His arms are ready to grab hold of her and untangle her mess,
He’s ready to recreate the pieces of her that is broken
Into His original masterpiece.
