Destination Awry

Her purpose became disposed by the empty container of a pill bottle.
She didn’t plan to withdraw into this life of addiction.
Her mind was too muddled to even recognize who she had become.
A pale face molded with the signs of abuse that outsiders diagnose.
A face that society thrusts aside, mistrusts, and labels as a lost cause.
Her hunger overcomes anyone who cares or anything that matters.
This appetite gnaws at her heart and suffocates the things she once loved.
How did she allow this to overtake her?
She was so beautiful, but felt so ugly.
She robbed herself with misplaced priorities of living it up,
This left her tossed by the wayside.
Slammed iron bars and a cold cell is her home now.
Rapid breaths of air escape her lungs with tears seeping down her cheeks.
God awaits her call to Him with His ear on her chest.

An Empty Vessel

Her heart was hollow and she stood unyielding to anyone that tried to reach out to her.

She was used to the insults flung at her by those who were supposed to love her.

She didn’t trust what people called love.

She heard their artificial claims and witnessed their cold shoulders.

Yet, she crossed my path.

I want to show her the love that My Father showed me.

So, I take the time to

Chisel….tap….stand back

Wait.

Pray.

Smile at her with an honest grin

And with eyes that hope,

With eyes that felt like she does….once upon a time.

Until, God shook me and showered me with love that wasn’t deserved,

A pure love, a real love.

I’m waiting for that cloudburst to drizzle upon her face

And fill that heart to capacity.

A Beautiful Mess

mess

Tear stained face with a bruised heart,
Sitting between walls of solitude
Falsely reasoning within herself
That no one understands.
She’s a complete mess
Who’s waiting to be mopped off the floor of her despair.

She listens to inner lies that have lingered from harsh words
That was spoken in quick temper or without thought.
The accusations, disappointments, the inability to achieve acceptance
Have created this complete mess
That is tangled in her mind.

Interwoven and pulsating from her veins
A need to be seen, heard, and most importantly loved.
He sees her and knows her.
He hears her questions and doubts.
Her heart is naked before Him, but she thinks He doesn’t see.
He knows that she isn’t a complete mess.
He knows how to mop her tears and untangle her mind.
He sees that she is a beautiful mess waiting to be cleaned up.
He’s awaiting the word from her to help.
He can’t help without her asking.
He watches and waits with a heart ready to gush out love.
His arms are ready to grab hold of her and untangle her mess,
He’s ready to recreate the pieces of her that is broken
Into His original masterpiece.

Exposing Beauty

Adjusting the focus through the eye of his lens
He captures beauty of God’s creation.
The Earth poses silently as the sun rises
Awakening a new day,
A day of new possibilities,
A day of discovering something that was unseen before.
He takes a deep breath before pressing the button
A beautiful image he doesn’t want to miss.
Snap…… perfect exposure.

Serenity

100_3383

Finding serene skies in January is rather wearisome.

Instead, January brings bleakness to the atmosphere,

With fog as bulky as the Christmas sweater you didn’t ask for.

Optimism is promised with the first month of a New Year,

Yet not seeing the signs bring a fear that is hard to elude.

Light penetrates through the coldness of the sky.

The cloud dissipates from my mind.

My squinting eyes refocus.

God I see you.

Serenity.

Immanuel, He Never Leaves

My God never leaves me.

He watches me slowly fall to sleep in the stillness of the night.

Sometimes, He will sprinkle thoughts and dreams in my subconscious

To remind me that He is still there.

I awaken to the busyness of the day

Yet, on those morning drives, He whispers my name.

He is busy alongside me, doing things that I’m unmindful of.

I smile because His presence gives me peace.

How could I ever push away His unconditional love?

He hears my worries, He sees my stubbornness, and He tastes my tears.

He smells my doubts and feels the uncertainty that attacks my mind.

And He still loves me.

I pause for a moment

And feel His arms surround me.

His security is ever present.

I embrace Him, returning the love that He freely gives.

God is with me,

I’m never alone.

God Knows and I Do Not

God knows and I do not.
I can speculate and draw conclusions;
they may be right or they may be wrong.

People hide in the shadows of who they really are.
People take advantage of goodness and grace.
God, how do you extend grace when there are so many that abuse it?
I guess because you are God, and I am not.

I wonder how some people sleep at night.
With eyes closed to everything;
not recognizing the hurt they cause around them.
God you see, but I do not.

Relationships get torn
and God, you get the blame.
Man is dirt until they awaken from your breath.
Blow the dirt off of each of us and let others see You.
We are dirt and You are not.
